Brazil coffee in London

73 speciality roasts from 38 London roasters use Brazil beans.

Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer and plays a central role in speciality coffee, particularly as a base component in espresso blends, where its body and low acidity provide balance. Brazilian coffees typically present with notes of milk chocolate, hazelnut, caramel and sometimes dried fruit, with a smooth, round mouthfeel and relatively gentle acidity. The cup character tends toward sweetness and consistency rather than brightness or complexity, which makes it a reliable and widely used origin.

The principal growing regions include Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Bahia and Espírito Santo, with most farms sitting at modest altitudes of around 700 to 1,200 metres compared to many other origins. Bourbon, Mundo Novo, Catuaí and Yellow Bourbon are among the common varietals encountered. Brazil is closely associated with natural and pulped natural processing, both of which suit its generally dry harvest conditions and contribute to the sweetness and body the origin is known for. Washed lots exist but are less typical.
